Scottish super middleweight, David Brophy (17-1) has secured a commonwealth title shot at Australian, Zac Dunn (23-0). The bout is set to take place on the 17th of March at the Melbourne pavilion, Victoria, Australia. The bout will be Dunn's first defence of his commonwealth title which he won against Sheffield's Liam Cameron on the 25th of November at the same venue, where Dunn scored an unanimous decision.
David Brophy's only sole career defeat came at the hands of three time world title challenger and legitimate top 10 168lb fighter in George Groves. Firstly David will be in action on the 20th of January in a tune up bout before heading down under to face the undefeated Dunn.
Promoter of David Brophy, MGM Scotland released a brief statement via social media regarding the title challenge for Brophy:
"this is a massive opportunity for David – and one which he grabbed with both hands as soon as we offered it to him. David scored an excellent knockout victory last time out and has been working very hard in the gym since that outing".
