Just two weeks in the Eredivisie is already delivering shocks and surprises. While some of the big names and familiar faces found life easier in week 2, others fell hard, shot down by late goals 26 goals coming up across the 9 matches, on what proved a successful weekend for the three promoted clubs in particular.
Fortuna Sittard 3-0 Almere City
Fortuna Sittard paid tribute to their former midfielder Willy Dullens. Fortuna's Dominance: Fortuna, with six new recruits, dominated the match. Alen Halilovic opened the scoring, and despite numerous chances, they couldn't add another in the first half. In the Second half Fortuna maintained pressure, with Guth and Aiko coming close to scoring. The second goal came from a brilliant cross by Kristoffer Petersen, and the third goal was scored by Josip Mitrovic. Almere City struggled, with little to show for their efforts, and Fortuna secured a clean sheet.
Heerenveen 1-1 Utrecht
Early Lead for Utrecht: Utrecht took an early lead with Ole Romeny scoring, followed by a disallowed goal after a VAR check. Heerenveen's Response: Despite some missed chances, Heerenveen equalized in the second half due to a defensive mistake by Utrecht. PEC Zwolle 1-5 Feyenoord
After a scare in the opening minute, Feyenoord took control with an early goal. The second half saw them extend their lead with goals from Stengs, Hancko, and Gimenez. Filip Krastev scored a brilliant volley for Zwolle, but Feyenoord comfortably saw out the win.
Willem II 2-0 Go Ahead Eagles
Willem II capitalized on defensive errors from Go Ahead Eagles, with Vaesen scoring a penalty and Meerveld adding a second. Despite some good chances, the Eagles couldn't break down a solid Willem II defense, leading to a deserved victory for the home side.
NAC Breda 2-1 Ajax
NAC Breda stunned Ajax with a second-half counterattack goal from Matthew Garbett. Ajax responded with a header from Jorel Hato. In stoppage time, Jan van den Bergh scored the winner for NAC, securing their first points of the season and leaving Ajax with much to ponder.
